What a year it has been at the GET Group for 2018!!!

Hello all and welcome to our second ever GET Group newsletter and last newsletter for 2018. A lot has happened this year and The GET Group has been busier than ever working with schools all over the country. We have so loved working with the students and staff at schools around the country this year and are looking forward to working with you all again in 2019.

Thank you so much for your support this year and we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

We hope you enjoy our end of year, Christmas themed newsletter :)

A word from the Directors;

Firstly We would like to thank all the wonderful schools who have engaged with us over the past 12 months. 2018 Has been a year of inspiration and growth and with the schools support we have achieved some great things.

We have engaged with over 1200 students from secondary Schools throughout New Zealand, our follow on work place Literacy programme designed for the workplace to support our young people and second chance learners once they reach employment is going from strength to strength with many more placements available for 2019.

We have sponsored and been involved with the Special Children’s Christmas party (New Zealand’s largest Xmas party for special children and their families sccpnz.co.nz ), The distinguished Gentleman’s ride (to promote and raise money for Men’s health gentlemansride.com ). The Waikato Landcare Group (Planting of the waterways to protect our environment for future generations) and our most exciting yet we have supported some of our very own young people from the Get Group to travel and gain some amazing memories and life skills for their future.

We look forward to working with you all in 2019 to continue our work in schools with new courses and opportunities while supporting our team to grow and contribute to their communities to help make a positive difference for our future leaders.

Thanks again and we will look forward to working with you all in 2019

A word from the GET Wellness Team;

We believe in nurturing the wellbeing of our young people so they can become resilient, skill-full and aware people who feel capable to face life outside of school. So we're very grateful that GET Wellness continues to grow from strength to strength each school term.

We're particularly excited about the student's achievements in our online programme GET Purposeful; especially when we receive testimonials like this.

“Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do the GET Purposeful internship programme. I have learnt so much about well-being and I have learnt key skills like meditation, which I cannot imagine my life without it now. The course has helped me massively with my anxiety and panic attacks and has encouraged me to learn more about well-being and how the mind works. You have truly changed my life with your teachings and I cannot express how grateful I am.” Chris Pugmire

We've also been talking to career advisors across the country to find out what they would like their young people to learn in 2019.  After looking at the common themes, we're excited to offer some new courses next year.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

A word from our students;

Moelani Ngaata

Moelani started her GET Business internship with The GET Group in Term 2 this year and completed it at the end of Term 3.

We had a chat with her about what she thought about our GET Business Internship programme.

“With the GET Business Internship, you can choose to work on an event, service or product. I chose to do a service because I felt my local community needed a place for youth. My service is based around a community centre called Te Rūnanga Rangatahi. I am in the process of developing this community centre to help young people develop a solid foundation of support and guidance. It is a safe place for young people to go and develop skills and gain an education.

The GET Group has given me insight into what the business world would like look, from writing formal meeting minutes, negotiating with partners, and negotiating deals. This programme has launched me into the first steps on my career path, as I am now in the process of developing a community centre in my local community which I am super excited about.

Through this programme, I have achieved 20 credits at Level 3 and I found it very simple and easy to work through and follow the The GET Group’s booklet. I had my own personal team leader to help me, and to support and guide me to achieve these standards. They were really encouraging, and were there to help me to complete each and every task.

My work was sent back to The GET Group by taking photos of it and attaching the photos to emails. Their response came back quickly, usually within the next few days.

The Get Group’s team provides support and guidance to create, develop and market your SEED product, Service or Event.
